Lesson 1: Basic Greetings & Introductions

Part 1: Common Greetings

“Greetings are the first words we say when we meet someone. Let’s look at the most common ones:

✅ Hello! – Formal and polite ✅ Hi! – Casual and friendly ✅ Hey! – Very informal

If it’s morning, we say Good morning! If it’s afternoon, we say Good afternoon! And in the evening, we say Good evening!

Now, let’s see some example conversations!”

Part 2: Formal vs. Informal Introductions

Person A: “Good morning! My name is John Smith. It’s nice to meet you.” Person B: “Good morning! I’m Lisa Brown. Nice to meet you too.”

Instructor: “This is a formal introduction. We use it in professional settings, like offices, meetings, or interviews.”

Person A: “Hey! I’m Mike! What’s your name?” Person B: “Hi Mike! I’m Sarah! Nice to meet you!”

Instructor: “This is an informal introduction, used with friends or in casual situations. Notice how they use Hey and Hi instead of Good morning.”

Part 3: Responding to Introductions

Instructor: “When someone introduces themselves, here’s how you can respond:

✅ Nice to meet you! ✅ Pleasure to meet you! ✅ It’s great to meet you!

If someone asks ‘How are you?’ You can say: ✅ I’m fine, thank you! ✅ I’m good, how about you?

Now, let’s practice a short dialogue together!”

Part 4: Practice Dialogue

Instructor: “Now, repeat after me.

👩🦰 Hi! My name is Emma. 🦰 Hi Emma! I’m David. Nice to meet you! 👩🦰 Nice to meet you too! How are you? 🦰 I’m good, thank you!

Great job! Now, let’s do a quick quiz!”

Instructor: “Now that you know how to introduce yourself and greet others, try practicing with your friends and family. In the next lesson, we’ll learn how to ask and answer questions in conversations. See you there!”
